Giving to the Community

The Rancho Mirage Writers Festival Foundation is committed to giving back to our community. We are proud to partner with the award-winning Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory, and all extra proceeds from the Festival go back to support programs and improvements at the Library. The Foundation has committed $60,000 toward the cost of the beautiful glass façade that encloses the children’s room.

The Foundation purchased two short story dispensers for $24,000 for the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory and the ER at Eisenhower Health. These innovative machines dispense delightful stories or poems for free on demand.

For the 2019 Festival, the Foundation spent $30,000 on books that were given for free to Festival attendees. Each attendee received a copy of Tom Hanks’ short story collection Uncommon Type as well as Sally Field’s bestselling memoir In Pieces.
