With your support and enthusiasm, we have together created a national book festival. C-SPAN praises our incredible programming and looks forward to being with us in years to come. If you think 2017 had great speakers, wait until you see the lineup of writers for 2018. Each week we will reveal our writers to you, our loyal readers.

We are on the way to making our fifth Festival even better. We will be limiting the number of passes sold, so there will be more room for each session. The Festival will offer certain sessions twice assuring you the opportunity to hear the presenters of your choice. We will add screens outside the Steinbeck Room so readers can watch those talks. We will increase the time between sessions giving more time for bathroom breaks and to meet the authors. The Festival will end each day at 4:45 pm, and we will organize literary dinners at local restaurants for readers to gather and talk about their favorite writers.

We received some great feedback on our 2017 Festival, and we listened to you, our readers. You told us that the evening sessions made the long days too exhausting. Next year we are incorporating the evening sessions into the day and adding our biggest stars and most popular speakers to the daytime sessions. We will have 90 sessions over two and a half days, with a choice of five fantastic sessions in each time slot. Sessions will be from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm, with longer breaks in between talks. Friday will be a half day with sesions from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.

The theme for 2018 is “Gloriana Britannia,” aka The British Invasion, featuring 8 of the best of English writers. We even have a surprise Royal to be announced. We also have our reader and C-SPAN favorites Bret Stephens, H.W. Brands, Dave Barry and Douglas Brinkley returning, not just because they give the best talks ever but because they love our “smart audiences.”

Please Note: The Rancho Mirage Writers Festival is unable to provide refunds on purchased tickets. Dates, times and authors are subject to change without notice. If a purchaser notifies the Festival at 760-341-7323 before the event that he/she will not attend, the original purchase will be treated as a face value tax-deductible donation until 5 PM the day before the Festival begins. The Festival will make every effort to provide these unused passes to area students, giving them the opportunity to meet authors and to have the learning experience provided by the Festival.

Purchase of a Rancho Mirage Writers Festival pass does not guarantee admittance for any individual speaker. Seating is limited. All readers should queue up in advance of scheduled start time.
