An Unfinished Love Story Movie Rights Acquired by Playtone & 007 Producer Barbara Broccoli: Her Epic Love Story with JFK, LBJ & RFK Confidante Richard Goodwin
Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman have teamed with Eon Productions’ Barbara Broccoli to acquire screen rights for An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s. That is the book historian Doris Kearns Goodwin wrote that debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, about the epic story of the love of her life, Richard Goodwin, peppered with his experiences as a seminal figure in the most turbulent events of the ’60s.
Kearns Goodwin and her Pastimes Productions partner Beth Laski will produce with Broccoli, Hanks and Goetzman.

Doris Kearns Goodwin is the world-renowned, Pulitzer Prize-winning and number one New York Times bestselling author of numerous books on American history. Her book, Leadership in Turbulent Times, was the inspiration for the two-part series Theodore Roosevelt and three-part epic documentary event Abraham Lincoln, which she produced for the History Channel. She is executive producer of FDR, a three-part documentary on the History Channel, also based on Leadership in Turbulent Times. She appeared at the 2025 Festival.
