Operation Mincemeat is Coming to the Big Screen
Ben Macintyre’s book Operation Mincemeat: How a Dead Man and a Bizarre Plan Fooled the Nazis and Assured an Allied Victory is coming to the big screen. This extraordinary deception of World War II stars Colin Firth as Ewen Montagu, the real-life historical figure who helped orchestrate an elaborate counter-intelligence scheme to throw Nazi Germany off the scent of the Allied Invasion of Sicily. Operation Mincemeat will premiere on Netflix in early 2022.
Ben Macintyre appeared at the 2018 Festival, for our “Gloriana Britannica” theme. A British author, historian, and columnist for The Times, he has written several award-winning historical books, five of which have been adapted into documentaries for the BBC.
