Climate Forward 2020
Please join us for a fresh look at how to break the gridlock preventing action against climate change. The event will begin with a one-on-one conversation with Tom Steyer, the founder of NextGen America and a climate activist. Steyer left his successful investing business to give his own money, time, and energy to fighting for progressive causes. He will discuss the climate realities the nation is facing alongside voter and broad community engagement. Steyer co-chairs Vice President Joe Biden’s Climate Engagement Advisory Council to help mobilize climate voters in November.
The event will continue with a panel discussion on “Climate Change and the 2020 Election.” The panel features Michelle Lujan Grisham, Governor of New Mexico and former U.S. Representative (D-NM); Bina Venkataraman, Editorial Page Editor for The Boston Globe and Senior Advisor for Climate Change Innovation in the Obama Administration; and Christine Todd Whitman, former New Jersey Governor and Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in the Bush Administration.
With climate change playing a larger and more polarizing role than ever before in a presidential election, this panel will examine the impact climate change has had on primary elections and the presidential election. We will examine the urgency of addressing climate change nationally and how to motivate action on the issue.
